I remember the moment clearly. After nearly a decade, 400+ episodes, and conversations with some of the world’s most brilliant minds — Richard Branson, Seth Godin, Les Brown — I heard something I didn’t expect (and it came in a moment when I was doing what I loved, a podcast interview). Not applause. Not a new guest pitch. A quiet, unmistakable confirmation from God: It’s time to lay this down.
The Entrepreneurial You podcast had become the main part of my identity. The #JamaicanPodcastQueen was not just a title — it was me. It opened doors, built communities in countries beyond the shores of Jamaica (it reached over 140+ countries), and put a small island nation on the global podcasting map. Walking away from it felt like walking away from myself.
But courage (and trust in God), I’ve learned, isn’t always about charging forward. Sometimes it’s about the hardest kind of obedience — releasing what you’ve built with your own hands because you trust that what’s ahead requires both of them to be free.
I had to have the most difficult conversation of my leadership life — with myself. No performance gap to address, no conflict to mediate. Just me, my faith, and the terrifying clarity that staying would be comfortable, and leaving would be right.
So I let go.
What followed wasn’t a loss. It was liberation. New assignments emerged. Grace to Grow deepened. Global Leadership Strategist unleashed; Coaching blooming. LeadHerShip is setting sail deeper and so much more. That’s what values-based decision-making looks like from the inside. It’s not a framework on a whiteboard. It’s a late-night wrestling match between your résumé and your calling — and choosing your calling anyway.
Leadership courage isn’t reserved for boardrooms or crisis moments. Sometimes it shows up quietly, asking you to trust what (and Who) you cannot yet see.
And when it does — lead with grace.
