There’s nothing more valuable than education; after all, leading is learning. A first-generation college graduate, Tammy Tibbetts is making her mark in world education as co-founder and president of She’s the First, a nonprofit providing scholarships and resources to girls in low-income countries who will be the first in their families (and sometimes their communities) to graduate from high school.
What began as a simple YouTube video in 2009 has grown into a global organization. She’s the First has provided more than 2,670 scholarships to girls around the world.
Tammy has come a long way since she was voted “most shy” in high school. Now a global speaker and philanthropist, Tammy empowers not just the girls she’s helping but also female leaders to find purpose in their work.
“Never underestimate your ability to make someone else ‘a first.’ You could be the first person to support them and believe in their dreams… and that will matter throughout the rest of their lives.” — Tammy Tibbetts
